Milkwood Fermentation postcard
Milkwood is a local Aussie enterprise committed to teaching their impressive knowledge of living well, and living simply. With an abundance of helpful resources and courses, the friendly folks at Milkwood can be proud of their achievements in passing on helpful hints and advice to anyone willing to learn, all from their farm in Mudgee and the occasional foray into Sydney.
Sandor Ellix Katz is another Aussie local with similar goals and methods as Milkwood. Katz describes himself as a "fermentation revivalist", which basically means he is a firm believer and activist in the fermentation movement. These practices are seeing everyday Australians take up fermentation at home to produce a range of fantastic products, not to mention earning Katz, a major leader in the movement, the nickname of 'Sandorkraut'.
So when Milkwood and Katz got together to arrange several courses on 'The Art of Fermentation' and asked us to create promotional postcards to advertise the event, we were only too happy to help out.
With a visually delectable base of natural wood, the postcard entails elements of the arts and crafts design movement. However, instead of stylising the components, the use of modern photography takes the natural look of the card one step further to create an organic feel that perfectly reflects the ideals of both Milkwood and Katz. As the arts and crafts movement stemmed from the Victorian movement, there are still elements of this ornamental style, as seen in the choice of typography in the intricate and stunning headline and body copy.
We printed the postcards on 350gsm Ecostar, a 100 per cent post-consumer recycled paper. To top off the natural content, style and printing method, the inks used are vegetable based. The courses are running in Sydney, Hobart and Melbourne throughout February.
